Summary:

Chapter 30 has a ton of great information on radio transmissions, and how to protect your radio transmissions, and practice good communications intelligence and security.

I have been reading Patriots: Surviving the Coming Collapse, by James Wesley Rawles first published in May of 2009. I picked this book up for about $7 and am reading it on the kindle cloud reader and through the kindle android app on my cell phone. Patriots Amazon Kindle ScreenshotBelow are my reflections on Chapter Thirty of this book.

[warning]Possible Spoilers[/warning]

The 30th Chapter of Patriots goes over a-lot of technical terms regarding radios and a-lot of logistics information.

The beginning of the chapter describes the conditions in the internment camps and some of the violations of human rights that the Federals were violating.

The resistance ended up taking a man name Edgar in and forming a Communications Intelligence (commit) team.

This chapter discusses at length communications discipline. And how radios work.

Understanding what transmissions can be DFed (direction found). In other words, if transmissions can can be triangulated to your position, so your enemy can find you.

Another important concept in this chapter is, LPI (low probability of intercept). If your transmissions can be intercepted by the enemy they can be decoded, and be used to predict your actions, preventing this is important.

This chapter is worth a read, and a reread, I don’t want to detail the chapter too heavy because, quite honestly radio is an opportunity for me to expand my knowledge (I don’t understand radio as much as other preparedness people).

I will keep reading, I will let you all know what I think of Chapter 31 of the book soon. Feel free to post your own reflections in the comment area below this blog post on Chapter 30 of the Patriots book.
